Sustainable Resource Processing
Going Forward
Regional Synergies represent a promising way to enhance improvement activities of companies in the intense processing areas of Australia and have a significant cumulative impact on emissions and wastes at the national level
•Continue to support the initiative in Kwinana where considerable momentum already exists
•Continue to work with the Hunter, where the initial meeting involved representatives from Tomago, Delta EMD, Delta Electricity, Pasminco, CSIRO, ISR, who agreed to work together over the coming months to explore tangible opportunities, with an initial focus is on waste stream synergies
•Progress opportunities at Townsville, Gladstone and other regions
•Cooperate with existing sustainable regional development initiatives, involving Environment Australia and federal and state development bodies
•Mobilise funding from industry and government sources to set up development officers on the ground [~$150k per region] to help unlock the potential value in regional synergy initiatives
•Aim to firmly establish activity in at least 3 regions over the coming year
